Lynn Vartan - Dancing on the Head of a Pin album download

Vartan proved herself to be a commander of colo. he was the model of a musical action painter. It is only in past couple of decades that the marimba – long primarily an ensemble instrument – has emerged as a vehicle for solo concert performance as well, attracting the attention of increasing numbers of classical composers. In this recording – Vartan’s debut album for Delos – she treats us to a fascinating program of works written since the turn of the 21st-century by both established composers and promising newcomers. An intriguing array of pieces for marimba alone comes courtesy of Guillaume Le Picard, Gareth Farr, Anna Ignatowicz, Daniel Berg, and Csaba Zoltán Marján. In the course of the two final works – by Dave Maric and Christos Hatzis – Lynn displays her versatility by playing not only marimba, but also vibraphone and crotales (small, bell-like cymbals).

Album The Wall to Wall Sessions. Dancing on the Head of a Pin Lyrics. Dancing on the head of a pin Dancing on the head of a pin Sleep our days away on the edge of a blade But at night we all go out Dancing on the head of a pin. All we want is to love And to be loved in return But for every breath you take There's a heart somewhere that breaks And a promise that's come all undone

How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" (alternatively "How many angels can stand on the point of a pin?") is a reductio ad absurdum challenge to medieval scholasticism in general, and its angelology in particular, as represented by figures such as Duns Scotus and Thomas Aquinas. It is first recorded in the 17th century, in the context of Protestant apologetics.
