Lighter than air and delightful, a group of 22 pieces authored by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806-1856), 17 vocal numbers - all in German and sublimely beautiful - and five instrumentals. Fans of Jan Akkerman, Amazing Blondel, some of Steve Howe's work, or Anthony Phillips may well love the playing and singing on this classical/romantic virtuoso tour-de-force.

Mertz was a Hungarian guitarist and composer active in Vienna and heavily influenced by the pianistic models of Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann. During his time he toured extensively as a virtuoso performer. The Bardenklänge (1847) are probably Mertz’s most important contribution to the guitar repertoire but many of his concert works such as Elegie & Hungarian Fantasy have become common concert repertoire.
