The Future in Whose Eyes? SikTh. Released June 2, 2017. The Future in Whose Eyes? Tracklist.
3 of the 12 tracks on The Future in Whose Eyes? are spoken word vehicles for Mikee's expressive schizoid vocal style, much like Tokyo Lights, Mermaid Slur and When Will the Forest Speak? were on SikTh’s previous releases. The new album sees him take a more direct lyrical approach than he has done in the past. I didn't censor myself as much as I usually would on this album’ he says
The Future in Whose Eyes? is the third studio album by British progressive metal band Sikth, their first full-length album since their 2008–2013 hiatus, following their return EP Opacities. It was released worldwide on 2 June 2017. It is the first album to feature new vocalist Joe Rosser, who replaced vocalist Justin Hill in 2016. The album was released on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. All lyrics written by Goodman; all music composed by Sikth. Mikee Goodman – vocals.
Complete your Sikth collection. Aside from that it sounds killer.
If so, then SikTh have what you crave with The Future In Whose Eyes?, released on June 2nd via Millennium Night. Key figures in the Djent scene, SikTh formed in 1999 in Watford, England. Their debut album, The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild, was released in 2003, and saw the band performing at the Download Festival as well as touring Japan with Anthrax and Killswitch Engage.
The long-awaited third studio long-player from the influential English l metal outfit, Future in Whose Eyes? is the first full-length outing from Sikth since 2006's acclaimed Death of a Dead Day, and the follow-up to their 2015 comeback EP Opacities. It also marks the debut of clean vocalist and former member of ALIASES Joe Rosser, who took over for Justin Hill after the latter decided to focus on his production career.
SikTh's music has always been socially conscious, but it almost seems like this album was the inevitable result of the changes the world has gone through since Death of a Dead Day was released eleven years ago, and because of that it feels all the more of a welcome return, and definitely worth the wait for what it is. The instrumentation on this album is still as you'd expect, with plenty of intricate, technical riffs woven around soaring melodies. In addition, the lyrics on "The Future in Whose Eyes"" are some of the weakest lyrics that SikTh has ever offered, and despite the relevance of a lot of the topics, a lot of the lyrics come across as fairly childish and leave a fair bit to be desired. Instrumentally, whilst the band retains their signature sound, it is somewhat toned down when compared to the previous SikTh releases.
