It wasn't: Daemon and Morfeus reunited five years later in 2007 and recorded Legacy of Evil, which is Limbonic Art's first album since 2002's The Ultimate Death Worship. Although this reunion disc is heavier and more forceful than their older recordings, Limbonic Art is still relevant to symphonic black metal; they still favor an approach that is more melodic, intricate, and nuanced than harsher black metal artists such as Marduk and Gorgoroth

The shorter cuts tend to work better, as the opener "Cosmic Funeral of Memories" and "The Seven Doors of Death" are both overlong and simply spin the tires for their entire duration. Regardless, Legacy Of Evil is consistent in its sound and would have been a great final chapter had the band decided to throw in the towel once Morfeus departed. As one final note, I have to address the amazing album artwork, get the vinyl to see it in its full glory. Morfeus is a great digital artist, and should consider offering his services-for-hire to other bands.

After a long stint started with the project's foundation, Krister Dreyer, aka Morfeus, left Limbonic Art after the release of Legacy of Evil, but the fact this is the final album with two members does little difference, as the album offers plenty of Progressive Rock-derived songwriting with a slightly clearer recording and a decent production job (another entirely different thing from The Ultimate Death Worship). Naturally, the word “innovation” hasn’t much sense for Limbonic Art, as they’re a project specialized in making evocative music that very rarely evolves into something hummable or sing-songy (though opener “A Cosmic Funeral of Memories” would be an ideal candidate for that). The rest of the album features much more recognizable hooks… and reveals also that Vidar Jensen isn’t exactly a songwriter with many aces in the sleeve: however, the relentless playing shows that he’s no stranger in channeling the “guitar brutality” of many releases of the genre, though the last track “Unleashed from Hell” seems almost a Slayer outtake. If anything, this album is another good introduction to the work of this twisted, solitary musician, and it’s one of his most consistent efforts.Highlights: “A Cosmic Funeral of Memories”, “Grace by Torments”, “Seven Doors of Death”.
