Nick Hakim will release his debut full-length album Green Twins via ATO Records on May 19, and the release will be preceded by a North American & European tour. The anticipated album follows his breakthrough Where Will We Go, Pt. I & II EPs that were self-released on his Earseed Records and praised by the New York Times, NPR Music and more. Green Twins is an experimental step forward with emotional heft gleaned from his experiences in the years since. The story of Green Twins truly began when, armed with the masters for his EPs, Hakim moved from Boston to Brooklyn, spending his time fleshing out unfinished ideas in his bedroom.
I watched life inside of you grow Every month a little bit bigger All the things that bothered your soul Make me smile and go crazy. I wanted to start it with you But someone said we ain't ready I admit inside me lives fear Fear I never wanted to show you. They haunt all of my dreams The green twins with your eyes They haunt all of my dreams The green twins with your eyes. We could've moved to LA It's always sunny right out there If I had it my way We would've stayed where we started
Green Twins is Nick Hakim’s debut album, released on May 19, 2017 via ATO Records. Nick Hakim explanation about the concept fo the album transcribed from the official booklet: I had a dream where we were walking down the road in JP (Jamaicai Plains, MA) and two little green babies were running around the sidewalk. There was a crash behind us as we walk away and we look back and the twins had been run over by a car. Theses babies were made out of some green jello texture. This dream happened three times. This was the starting point for this project.

Although he studied at Berklee College of Music and might come across as a young gun, Nick Hakim can be described as a somewhat diffident late bloomer. The singer, songwriter, and t didn't plant his first foot forward as a musician until he was out of his teens. Within a few years, however, his first two EPs were in circulation, attracting listeners with uniquely old-soul ballads that were intimate yet mysterious. Hakim also opened for Maxwell and King and signed a deal with ATO, home to Alabama Shakes and Chicano Batman.
